"Blackjack Strategy Chart"
The U.S. Player's Learning Center
Blackjack Strategy Chart
You will find that our Blackjack Strategy Chart will be extremely useful when learning how to play blackjack. Our blackjack strategy chart is displayed below for Classic Blackjack when the Dealer starts with one card face up. You'll find the "Action Strategy Key" located at the bottom of this chart.

Some variations of blackjack permit the player to surrender their hand after receiving their first 2 cards. Our blackjack strategy chart also includes surrender information that will prove quite useful if you happen to be playing that particular variation of the game.

The column on your left displays the possible hands that you may be dealt. The dealer will expose only one card, unless you are playing "Face Up 21" and in that case, the dealer exposes both cards. Simply look down the column the denotes the "Dealers Up Card" until you find your 2 card hand in the left column. At that point you will be provided the recommended action to take.

The first section refers to a "Hard Total". That means your 2 card hand does not contain an Ace. The next section refers to a "Soft Total" which means your hand does contain an Ace... and the last section deals with your hand when it contains a pair of similar cards. Don't forget that all face cards are counted as a 10 in blackjack. If you had a 10 and a King, you would have a total count of 20.

Try the following examples to make sure that you know how to use our Blackjack Strategy Chart.

1. The Dealer's Up Card is an 8 and Your Hand totals 11... You should Double your Bet!
2. The Dealer's Up Card is an 3 and Your Hand totals 12... You should Hit!
3. The Dealer's Up Card is an 10 and Your Hand contains Ace & 6... You should Hit!
4. The Dealer's Up Card is an 6 and Your Hand contains a pair of 7s... You should Split the 7s!
5. The Dealer's Up Card is an 5 and Your Hand totals 12... You should Stand and not Hit!
